Jim Cross, one of RE/MAX North Professionals’ REALTOR®s, is an agent/broker who brings over 34 years of honest, reliable real estate service to buyers and sellers of residential property in the Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle counties of scenic Vermont. Jim’s business philosophy is to put clients first, making buyers and seller happy throughout the process of their transaction, as well as at its successful closing. Following his completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from the University of Vermont in 1975, Jim found his true calling in real estate and has been a licensed residential agent in Vermont since 1978, earning his broker’s certification in1983. His educational background guarantees clients a REALTOR® that is not only knowledgeable and experienced in the market, but one that also understands the inner workings of the financial aspect of the housing market. Continuing education and keeping abreast of market changes and technology are important to Jim, as they ensure his clients the best possible skill set to help them achieve their goals in real estate.

In keeping with his “clients first” attitude, Jim has achieved numerous distinctions and additional certifications that go above and beyond those required under Vermont law. These REALTOR® designations indicate a commitment to his clients and are the rock on which Jim has built his career. Jim holds the CRS® (Council of Residential Specialists), GRIsm (Graduate, REALTOR® Institute), e-PRO®, ABR®( Accredited Buyer's Representative), and EcoBroker® (Green certified) certifications, allowing his clients a confidence that comes with choosing a highly qualified, technically trained REALTOR® to handle their real estate transaction. Jim’s CRS® designation, which fewer than 2% of real estate professionals nationwide are awarded, adds to his other achievements and certifications as a source of assurance for his clients, as these designations are only awarded to REALTOR®s who have acquired a deep knowledge of technical subjects as well as the fundamentals of real estate. Finally, keeping pace with the modern trend towards using the internet as a tool to broker real estate, Jim earned the designation of e-PRO®, which indicates internet professionalism to prospective clients and a modern knowledge of the most current uses of internet technology and marketing techniques. Jim has also garnered the esteem of his peers in the profession during his career; he was awarded Northwestern Vermont Board of Realtors “Realtor of the Year” in 2002, the Vermont Association of Realtors “Good Neighbor Award” in 2007 and in 2008, entered the ReMax Hall of Fame of ReMax International, Inc.

Though the Burlington area housing market is not a robust one, it is also not subject to the wild market vacillations of the past decade, and due to the conservative nature of Vermont lenders and agents, even during the worst market lows of the past decade, Vermont retained the lowest foreclosure rate in the United States. Jim advises prospective clients to have a good grasp on their budget, seek pre-approval from a lender, and choose a qualified, certified REALTOR® to ensure success in their real estate goals. A Vermont native who has lived in Chittenden County for over 40 years, Jim daily finds himself in awe of the natural beauty of the state and the sense of community of its citizens.
